Select and learn about an architect and a bird species.
Design and build a birdhouse. Include essential design elements utilized by your chosen architect that are appropriate for your bird.
Parameters:
Study examples by your chosen architect and make notes about key design elements he or she uses. Incorporate
one or more of those elements into your birdhouse.
Make a series of sketches before finalizing your design.
Tailor the design to your chosen bird’s needs. Consider the overall scale and shape, the size of the entrance, and more.
Select materials you have access to and that are compatible with your design and your bird’s preferences.
When you’re finished, install your birdhouse near your home or school.
Keep watch to see if anything moves in!
Experiment at Home:
Design a birdhouse for birds you regularly see near your home. Work with materials you find in your recycling, such as cardboard boxes.
